Job summary
As the Regional Senior Manager, Origination, Latam, will primarily focus on sourcing, overseeing, monitoring, and managing the sustainable technologies-related leads and opportunities in the region. You will focus on a portfolio of projects in the Latam region. You will support business development and project origination-related activities within the designated region.
You will work closely with other teams within the business line, especially with the Investment and the Project teams, allowing you a global perspective. In addition, you will be dealing directly with project partners and sustainability-related actors to collaborate and source emission reduction projects for South Pole’s global portfolio.
Additionally, will have qualities related to people and time management, supervision, leadership, and support in complex projects.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Oversee the sourcing of new emission reduction projects related to sustainable technologies eligible for carbon finance and other environmental market products.
Attain or surpass the regional project origination goals.
Source new project leads and opportunities for the Latam region aligned to Corporate sourcing strategies and mandates.
Align the commercial efforts of the Projects team with the quality criteria defined by SP strategy directors.
Be aware of methodological adjustments involving changes in commercial and/or market conditions by type of technology.
Contribute to the development and technical understanding of the prospecting teams on new technologies of interest defined by SP to identify further opportunities.
Proactively network with relevant organizations; including potential project partners, both for project sourcing and implementation.
Attend relevant gatherings and conferences and expand the existing network of the stakeholders. that would effectively generate new business leads for South Pole.
Map and plan resources efficiently and adequately to optimize sourcing activities, including the skill and professional development needs of the team.
Ensure that sourcing flows and processes (including documentation and interaction with other teams) align with the company guidelines.
Manage and maintain our internal CRM system for project sourcing, ensuring that project leads and opportunities are well-recorded and updated.
Support coordination and collaboration with other teams within South Pole regionally and globally, regarding project leads and opportunities.
Ensure compliance with South Pole procedures, templates, and policies on commercial agreements (ERPA and others).
Follow up project’s IPA/DD process.
Conduct research relevant to new project leads, project developers, project partners, and relevant regulatory regimes/policies in the region.
Collect data from project partners or other third parties for due diligence, financing plans, budgets, and technical, financial, and legal documentation
Any other to ensure a high quality and strategic commercial effort in Latam.
Apply the internal policies and procedures about the correct use of our internal project management tool for keeping general information, milestones, and cash flow, as well as the general normativity to ensure harmony between all stakeholders involved in the organization (accounting, registries, projects managers, portfolio, HR, commercial and other internal and external stakeholders).
Participate in the co-creation spaces to develop and provide feedback and offer solutions about the internal process involved in the project management activities.
Planning and development of site visits and other types of business trips/training.
Identify and prioritize tasks according to the needs of the project, regarding the schedule and budget.
Requirements
Education: University degree in Economics, Engineering, or Environmental Management.
Experience: At least 10+ years of relevant experience in business development or partnership management.
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of Article 6, carbon standards (VCS, GS), and NbS project types.
Skills: Excellent communication in English and Spanish; Portuguese is highly desirable. High performance in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
