Job summary:
South Pole has developed 800+ climate projects across the globe which have already undergone carbon certification. This position is responsible for supporting the sourcing and commercial activities for Nature based Solution (NbS) climate projects, conducting project financial analysis, and delivering the assigned tasks according to the team work plan in the SEA region. The role is service oriented, including actively supporting and coordinating the assigned teams in building the NbS projects pipeline & portfolio, developing partnership, monitoring and renegotiating commercial terms of existing South Pole contracts with the project partners, where necessary. This position will work very closely with the Certification, Policy & Strategy, Portfolio, Investment team, Legal team and others. This position will report to the hierarchy and functional managers. In addition, this position will participate in business rounds, commercial & technical sessions, site visits, and other relevant events.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
Support the commercial activity of SEA Climate Projects team in sourcing new NbS leads, building project pipeline, developing partnership and networks, coordinating with Structuring & Investment, Policy & Strategy including Other (if relevant)
Support the commercial team for conducting data and financial analysis of the assigned projects/tasks which shall be inline with the applicable standards and investment guidelines. This may include the identification of acquisition targets to grow our projects base in collaboration with South Pole’s investment team in the region.
Liaises with Commercial Managers and Technical Managers in the SEA regional team and relevant stakeholder to ensure the outcome of the project financing, investment analysis as well as supporting the project forecast and data management of the region team’s portfolio
Support (as required) the Legal team in developing relevant updated templates such as Investment contracts, and updated MOU and Cooperation agreements
Support market research, data collection, literature review and drafting of feasibility studies, financial analysis and other commercial documents in scope of carbon certification and other if relevant (e.g. VERRA, Gold Standard, A6.4, T-VER, Social Carbon, etc)
Keep track of the updated general information in project/lead documents, milestones, deliverables and invoices in the assigned platforms
Manage project folders and ensure all relevant documents are accessible and traceable on the drive at any time
Participate in formal and informal networking opportunities as required. This includes sharing relevant contacts and information on the possible opportunities with the commercial climate project team.
Requirements:
Essential skills and experience
University Degree in business, finance, economic, environment, sustainability, forestry, land use management and any related fields
Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in business development, trading, any commercial activities or related field
Familiarity with carbon standards like VERRA, Gold Standard, A6.4, SRN, etc, as well as relevant domestic standards or requirements
Ability to work on assignments that are diverse in nature, applying company policies, processes and procedures to resolve a variety of issues/problems.
Capacity to solve project-related problems and able to follow direction on new assignments or projects
Ability to create high quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) in English and Bahasa is a must, whereas in other languages in SEA countries is optional
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially verbal and written skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Indonesian National or Passport Holder.
Desired skills and experience
Hands on experience on carbon project development from initial project assessment to issuance of credits
Working experience on forestry, agriculture or NbS sector in broader sense
Knowledge of additional languages in Asia is considered a plus
A keen attention to details, flexible and efficient
