Job Summary
The goal of the Managing Consultant is to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality consultancy advice primarily to Japanese corporations, while also extending services to other companies across the APAC region, on a diverse range of sustainability topics e.g., supply chain decarbonisation, biodiversity, water stewardship, and more.
You will develop business opportunities in Japan and translate customer inquiries into high-quality technical and commercial proposals. You will implement consulting projects and provide strategic advice to clients, driving impactful projects that promote environmental sustainability while aligning with South Pole’s business goals. Interact and build relationships with Japanese and international clients, and manage the timely delivery of mandates. Understand clients' business challenges and objectives. Collaborate with new prospects and existing clients to reinforce business growth.
Develop proposals and work in close collaboration with the Center for Excellence teams delivering South Pole’s services, products, marketing materials and offerings within specific areas of expertise (e.g. biodiversity) to support the company's business development activities in Japan and broadly in APAC.
Collaborate with the sales team and senior consulting professionals to support business development activities for the company.
Lead small teams of consultants in a project based set up for implementation of client projects.
Based on your experience, act as the technical specialist on Biodiversity Impacts and Dependencies Assessments and Disclosure, Biodiversity Footprint, and occasionally extend to additional corporate sustainability topics such as climate change adaptation, Science-Based Targets for Nature (SBTN), Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). Contribute to the creation of a market for biodiversity-related services and products in Japan through participation in different initiatives and platforms.

About South Pole
Our story began in Zurich, with 5 friends* in 2002. They had a belief and a vision to shape and change the future of the world through climate empowerment, education and projects with their non-profit organisation; MyClimate. These ‘social entrepreneurs’ went on to pioneer climate change with the introduction of South Pole in 2006*. More than 20 years on, with the support of some of the most passionate and talented entrepreneurs around them, who are empowered to all play their part and with their founding belief in aligning purpose with passion, people and profit, they have created South Pole, an organisation that has gone onto positively impact the lives of over 20 million people across the world through its projects, saving over 20,000 km2 of forests from deforestation.
