Job summary:
South Pole develops and implements comprehensive emission reduction projects and strategies that turn climate action into long-term business opportunities for companies.
As a Business Development Manager, you are tasked to proactively and independently generate new leads for the business, focusing on our suite of advisory services, including GHG accounting, climate risk analysis, decarbonisation strategies, impact communications and more.
The Advisory Business Line in South Pole services some of the most iconic brands as well as frontrunning SMEs on their Climate Journey. South Pole Advisory, and all colleagues in the team including the Business Development Managers, represent an expertise on Climate Change and other bespoke environmental sustainability topics that is unique in the market. You will open the doors for science driven impact, for industries changing course of direction, and for customers to see the business relevance of climate action.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
As a Business Development Manager you will help expand South Pole’s customer base for our consultancy services in your region. Tasks include:
- Generating and qualifying new leads
Developing compelling proposals along with subject matter experts (consultants)
Pitching climate advisory solutions to prospective clients
Winning new clients
Building & maintaining a healthy pipeline
Contribute to the Go to Market strategy in the region, lead by the regional sales lead
In addition to you core responsibilities, you’ll be expected to:
Stay on top of climate trends and develop in-depth knowledge of competitors, clients, and market dynamics to better demonstrate the superiority of our services in terms of quality and credibility attributes and benefits for our clients.
Share across external and internal teams ensuring a smooth client experience and confidence to convince senior directors (internal and external) to make revenue-generating decisions.
Identify new customer needs for further product development.
Manage client meetings in close collaboration with the expert teams, lead prospect conversations, contract negotiations, and close deals with strategic prospects.
Requirements:
Essential -
University degree in Sustainability and/or Business related discipline
At least 5 years of proven business development/sales experience with a high preference for some experience in the sustainability and/or climate field
Track record in generating new leads
Track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets
Results-driven and action-oriented with self-direction and sense of urgency
Demonstrable commercial skills and good business sense so as to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment
Critical thinking and decision-making skills with strong business and commercial acumen
Excellent communication and presentation skills, in English
Advanced prioritisation and time management skills
Genuine passion and alignment to the climate change industry
Desirable profile requirements
Advanced skills in G-Suite
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment
Experience using Salesforce
