Job summary:
As a part of the Certificates Team, you will primarily assist the Regional ST team in assessing, developing and delivering GHG emission reduction products (project documents, monitoring reports and others) under various carbon standards. This role will focus on the technical and commercial scope of ST projects. You will support the coordination and work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders such as project participants, external auditors and any other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective delivery of credits from successful registration and issuance processes of assigned projects. As a part of the above exercise, you will assist in the auditing process for the validation and verification of the climate projects and participate in kick-off meetings, technical sessions, site visits, and other relevant events. You will be also supporting sourcing activities, ensuring a smooth operation of project sourcing flows, doing secondary research in identifying new projects and developing carbon projects mainly with a focus on ST projects.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
● Management of the emission reduction projects, which includes drafting of feasibility studies, project design documents, Emission Reduction spreadsheet, monitoring and to provide support under different carbon standards, national and international carbon schemes
● Participate in the validation and verification processes, interaction with the VVBs/DOEs to resolve queries
● Assist the team members during the site visits and travel to project locations when necessary
● Provide assistance on technical support for project sourcing activities
● Crosscheck the internal procedures on all signed ERPAs/ERSAs according to our internal project management tool
● Support preparation of proposals and other such deliverables, and finalise them to the South Pole’s quality standard and the client’s requirements. The nature of the support may be either technical or administrative depending on the mandate
● Maintain and update the general project information, milestones, and cash flow in the project management software
● Support in planning and development of site visits and other types of business trips/training as necessary
● Participate in networking opportunities as required
● Support regional commercial team to source new project leads and opportunities
● Collect data from Project Owners or another third party for due diligence, financing plans and budgets, technical, financial and legal documentation.
● Update proposal/project information in the project management tool and ensure all relevant documents are accessible in the drive at any time.
● Any other support which may be required from time to time for the smooth function of the project development team.
Requirements:
Essential -
● University Degree in environmental sciences, forestry or climate change and carbon mitigation related fields, a Master’s degree is a plus
● Minimum 2-3years of work experience in the field of climate change, preferably with experience in project management and development of CDM, VCS and Gold Standard projects
● Knowledge of carbon products and markets would be a strong plus, preferably including one or more of the following:
○ project-based carbon standards, technologies and project development processes, e.g. GS or VCS
○ Familiarity with carbon standards like, CDM, VERRA, GS4GG, CCER, etc.
○ Ability to work on assignments that are diverse in nature, applying company policies, processes and procedures to resolve a variety of issues/problems.
○ Ability to create written documents (proposals and deliverables) in English
○ Have excellent communication skills, especially verbal and written skills in English
○ Ability to manage targets and priorities and develop own goals
○ Valid Indian passport to travel to different countries for project site visit
Desirable -
● Hands On experience on carbon project development from initial project assessment to issuance
● Working experiences on community based sustainable technologies projects and IREC projects will be a plus
● A good network with various market participants e.g. project owners, DOEs and government agencies will be a plus.
● Flexible and efficient.
