Job summary:
As Global Senior Lead for ARR projects you will be in a leadership position providing significant technical expertise acting as a leading technical advisor to our existing regional projects and pipeline as well as providing global guidance and support to the overall ARR portfolio and ambition.
This role requires the balancing of being directly involved with large projects in our global regions together with the engagement and facilitation on ARR topics (methodologies, technical issues, quality control, media and public scrutiny, etc..) across the relevant teams in the business.
This role requires independent drive and leadership coupled with strong technical acumen in the NBS carbon markets, specifically with ARR projects.
Lead, support, and contribute to the global and strategic ARR/IFM topics that are crucial to South Pole or are at the centre of media/clients’ attention. (definition of quality criteria, implementation strategy, relation with standards)
Full alignment, clear communication and proactive coordination on the above topics with all of the Regional Project teams as well as other key stakeholders in the business
Support the evaluation of ARR/IFM projects under the new Quality Assurance and Quality Check (QA/QC) process in coordination with the Project Risk team, Help ensure the effectiveness of the QA/QC process through the development and implementation of appropriate tools, processes, guidelines or frameworks.
Interact across relevant teams within the business line to constantly review and adjust quality criteria for ARR/IFM projects.
Provide technical support and coordination with the regional teams on the development and validation of projects and updates regarding new approaches, tools, and processes on the design for ARR projects.
Lead the work an implementation of Key projects who have significant strategic and/or commercial value Initiate any necessary follow-up to methodological standards updates and new standards and approaches: produce SOPs and training.
Ensure consistency and quality across South Pole’s ARR´s portfolio by checking with the regional focal points the appropriate use and implementation of defined processes and tools
Support all commercial conversations when required.
This may include involvement in client meetings, exhibitions and other corporate events and represent SP in Standards working groups and in different forums on the ARR/IFM topic, NBS, and environmental markets Help establish the CAD/benchmark budget assessment for the ARR/IFM topic. Initially focus on VCS+CCB and The Gold Standard and, based on the experience, propose a person days structure for new standards.
Support the development and improvement of the Project ́s manual co-development, as it relates to NBS: This includes content contribution, validation and training with relevant stakeholders Design and implement technical training plans aligned with the necessities and gaps of knowledge identified in the regions.
The expert will lead the knowledge management program for ARR/IFM strategic/crucial and/or regular topics in coordination with regions, HR and Operations teams.
Proactive communication and problem-solving with all other experts and directors within the Policy and Strategy team and the Regions/Projects.
Drive innovation and entrepreneurship through leadership and decisive action within the global strategy team, including assessing potential projects/companies-related equity investments for consideration by the investment board and proposing potential corporate innovations to the investment board or to the South Pole regions.
Essential skills and experience
- University degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Business, or another relevant discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including several years of experience in business development roles within the sustainability sector, specifically in the topics of NBS technology to remove carbon emissions
- Previous entrepreneurial experience in a highly innovative sector, a technology company, or a start-up ecosystem
- Know-how global corporate best practices related to climate strategies, such as the Science Based Targets Initiative and Net Zero pledges
- Experience in establishing clear performance targets and metrics, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding challenging targets Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to establish a compelling vision for the ARR/ANR Strategy within the NBS Strategy unit Strong business acumen, with the ability to structure and negotiate deals that are commercially sound and profitable for South Pole Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to partner effectively with key internal and external stakeholders
- Strong quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire action and get the best out of people
- Ability to present ideas to executive/internal stakeholders regionally and globally
- Ability to work on global and regional complex issues Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Fluency in English.
Desired Skills and experience
- Expertise in Voluntary Carbon Market, carbon emission projects, and standards
- Expertise in the oil & gas and high emitters industrial sectors
- Experience in pipeline development, CRM, Excel, and similar tools
- Experience in negotiating with public institutions.
