Job summary:
In this role you are part of the accounting and financial team in Colombia and work in close coordination and under the supervision of our Controller. You are responsible for the calculation of all taxes relevant to our company and must ensure that filings and payments are made correctly and on time. This role works in collaboration with other employees of our entity in Colombia to ensure that client receivables are managed in accordance with group policies and to manage portfolio collections. Additionally, you will assist with monthly closings and periodic reporting to headquarters, as well as involvement in various individual and group accounting projects. Your role requires a high degree of proactivity and proposals for improvements in the processes and activities of the team. This role of Senior Tax, Billing and Collections Specialist will document your processes in charge and share them with your other South Pole employees according to the transition dynamics, changes and vacation protocols of the team.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Through teamwork, assist in requirements of the DIAN, Superintendence of Societies, Fiscal Auditors and other supervision entities in Colombia
- Prepare and submit the tax returns in charge of South Pole Carbon Asset Management S.A.S. for the timely review of the Controller before their effective submission to the supervision and control entities of Colombia
- Responsible for recording, processing and reconciling transactions of bank accounts, credit cards and short-term investments
- Document processes, adopt them and communicate them to the South Pole team, with a view to learning from all financial processes and teaching yours to other members of the finance team to facilitate and implement good collaborative and empathetic practices
- Elaboration of invoices for the sale of carbon credits and consulting projects for Colombia and abroad; following up on delayed sales invoices, collection management and periodic reporting
- Support in the monetization of payments and collections of drafts from abroad, as well as support to the team in the creation of payment lots in virtual branches, online payments and cash flow and treasury activities
- Assume, if necessary, new responsibilities in the accounting and financial area for the growth of South Pole Colombia, adapting to new processes, responsibilities or other functions relevant to the finance and administration team
Requirements:
Essential -
- Completed studies in Public Accounting or a related discipline
- Relevant work experience (the expectation is a minimum of 3 years) or specialization in Colombian tax accounting
- Updated accounting and tax knowledge, insights in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Working knowledge with accounting ERPs
- Proficient written and oral command of Spanish
- Expert in Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel)
- Entrepreneurial attitude, sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative
- Teamwork oriented with a can-do attitude, creativity and prudence
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while keeping attention to details
- Excellent oral and written skills in English would be an advantage
