South Pole’s expertise covers project and technology finance, data and advisory on sustainability risks and opportunities, as well as the development of environmental commodities such as carbon and renewable energy credits. South Pole has mobilised climate finance to over 700 projects in emission reduction, renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable land-use, acting today ‘for a better tomorrow’.

We are calling Carbon, Land Sector and Emission Reduction experts in Australia to be a part of the South Pole Australia team! As our two Australian offices continue to expand, we’re looking for talented and committed professionals to join our fight against global climate change. This is your chance to work with experts around the globe on topics such as climate change,  sustainability  and land sector  mitigation actions. Work and support in building and growing our portfolio of Emissions Reduction Fund/Climate Solutions Fund (ERF/CSF) projects, as well projects under international voluntary standards



Key skills needed for the various positions with our growing team include:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Australian carbon market and carbon asset development
  • Business development, relationship management and networking skills
  • Technical understanding of land based carbon abatement projects
  • Client facing presentation development skills 
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills


Requirements:

  • University degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Sustainability, or any climate change and carbon mitigation related fields, a Master's degree is a plus
  • More than 3 years of relevant work experience in climate change mitigation or related field
  • Experience of global and Australian project-based carbon standards, technologies and project development processes, Australian carbon policies and market drivers  including ideally experience working with Indigenous stakeholders
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently, with colleagues based in different locations and time zones around the globe
  • Nationals, or valid work permit holder of Australia, Indigenous and Torres Strait applicants are encouraged to apply
