Job summary:

With our global and cloud based South Pole IT infrastructure, we are connecting passionate  professionals around the world. As a Cloud Administrator / DevOps Engineer, you will be part of the planning and design team for our Server, Cloud, SAAS and Network Infrastructure. You will be part of the Operations team to maintain our existing IT infrastructure and will develop new ways and keep the system up to the customers needs.  You will be working on current systems, troubleshooting them and bringing new solutions. Although you are working mainly in the background, you are playing a key role in the daily operations of all users. You keep South Poles Engine running. Are you up for this challenge?


Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Participation in the planning and design of our cloud architecture and the underlying operating processes
  • Development and implementation of concepts for automation and orchestration of complex systems
  • Installation, configuration, operation and monitoring of Linux and Windows systems in cloud platforms
  • Administration and support of container environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Analysis and elimination of occurring faults 
  • Support the Continuous Delivery Infrastructure
  • Operating and Supporting Database Server
  • Backup and recover tasks for application data 
  • Script and automate toil work
  • Update and migrate existing systems
  • Manage permissions on all level
  • Spin up quickly Virtual or Container environments to fulfil the need from the application developers
  • Evaluate and order hardware
  • Configuring firewall and access mechanism for all our IT systems
  • You are collaborating with the IT helpdesk 
  • Bring new solutions and ways into the South Pole IT Landscape

Requirements:

Essential - 

  • Degree in computer science education, in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Certifications in Linux server administration and/or Container based virtualisation
  • We expect 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Web Service configuration skills (such as Apache and Nginx)
  • Experience with the Google Cloud Console and Kubernetes
  • Experience with working on Ubuntu or Debian Linux Systems
  • Knowledge of Azure Active Directory
  • Knowledge of Network Security and Firewall configurations
  • Proficient level of English skills (at least B2 level)
  • Ability to work in a responsible and self-driven manner. 
  • Ability to work in a global environment and in a diverse global team You are an open-minded person and sharing knowledge actively 

Desirable = 

  • Database Administration Skills
  • Python skills, especially in combination with GCloud
  • Experience with CI like Jenkins and GitHUB
