Job summary:

The main focus of the Senior Business Development Manager and Sustainability Advisor is to increase our sustainability and climate impact by growing South Pole's business in France. In this role, you are responsible for a portfolio of clients and supporting new business development. 

You proactive manage the relationship with existing clients, understand their needs and develop tailor-made solutions. You are further responsible for the successful acquisition and management of new corporate customers by identifying and assessing new business opportunities to strengthen South Pole's leading market position in the area.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow business opportunities in the region
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of the go-to-market strategy for France
  • Advise clients in their sustainability journey
  • Proactively manage client relationships and position South Pole as their preferred partner in the sustainability field
  • Understand market trends, client needs and identify business opportunities
  • Develop compelling proposals together with our product experts and consultants
  • Conclude commercial agreements with clients and partners
  • Maintain client satisfaction by ensuring high-quality services
  • Represent South Pole in client meetings, at conferences and trade shows
  • Provide inputs for product and service development
  • Contribute to the sustainable commercial success of the team and the company
  • Instil pride in the South Pole brand, inspire team members
  • Manage one to two team members


Essential -

  • A university degree, ideally at master's level
  • Solid business development and sales experience with a track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets and client expectations
  • At least years of work experience in the field of sustainability (renewable energy or carbon markets), corporate responsibility, sustainable development and/or climate change
  • Existing network of relevant contacts in France, especially in the corporate sector
  • Understanding of the climate solutions market in France
  • Understanding of the business drivers behind corporate climate actions and initiative (e.g. SBT, RE100, carbon neutrality) and the ability to formulate a business case
  • Excellent French and English skills are a must
  • Strong drive for results, action-oriented, with self-direction and sense of urgency
  • Ability to successfully navigate complexity and deal with ambiguity effectively
  • Experienced working in small teams, ideally within an international and multicultural context
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as GSuite products

Desirable - 

  • Other languages (particularly German) is a plus
  • Highly result-oriented with a strong drive to engage new clients
  • High energy and strong prospecting skills
