Our Consultancy & Advisory Services team provides our clients with outstanding technical expertise that enables the successful implementation of complex sustainability projects. Our expertise spans across multiple topics including land and water management, climate strategies, renewable energies, environmental impact assessments, green products, climate policy, carbon pricing, climate finance, and sustainable finance, to name just a few. Job summary:

The goal of the Analyst is to support with the implementation of projects, the preparation of proposals and the development of new products. This involves a variety of tasks, such as research, data analysis and writing deliverables and proposals related to advisory and data services for the financial sector. You mainly contribute to product development efforts and to supporting project teams with medium-sized and large mandates but are also expected to manage small projects yourself occasionally.


Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Assist with proposal/deliverable preparation and completion, for the finance sector, including both technical and administrative requirements, to the quality level required by South Pole and our international clients
  • Contribute to the expansion of South Pole’s financial and corporate data analysis capabilities
  • Improve internal analytical practices, share suggestions and insights to conduct analytical tasks in an efficient, secure and visual manner, with the aim of benefiting South Pole mandates, business or product development
  • Conduct multiple analytical tasks in parallel, requiring qualitative and quantitative analysis of data, drawing insights useful to South Pole’s activities
  • Occasionally manage small projects yourself, coordinating with the client and taking care of technical and administrative requirements
  • Ensure that assigned tasks/projects are delivered on time and within the available budget
  • Manage project information and knowledge according to our project management best practices
  • Support with the development and improvement of tools and knowledge linked to the topics and services offered by South Pole
  • Support business development through desktop research and developing materials to be shared with possible clients and partners
  • The topics of engagement will focus on Scope 3 carbon footprinting and disclosure. Occasionally, some projects might extend to additional corporate sustainability topics such as TCFD advisory, SDG impact analysis and net-zero 



Requirements:

Essential -

  • University Degree in Environmental Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Applied Math, or related disciplines. A Master’s degree will be an advantage
  • Relevant work experience (the expectation is a minimum of 6 months including internships) in sustainability consulting or related fields
  • Numerically literate and fully comfortable working with large datasets; ability to clearly analyse and summarise quantitative data
  • Familiarity with ESG data and indicators, as well as GHG accounting is an advantage
  • Experience in data curation and/or analysing and working with financial and non-financial data is an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge and command of Excel, including VBA 
  • Ability to conduct research tasks and analyse and summarise data
  • Attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality data-based outputs
  • Ability to manage small projects
  • Excellent research, analytical and methodological skills
  • Good writing skills, with the ability to contribute to high-quality written documents (proposals and deliverables)
  • Good communication and collaboration skills with clients, team members and other relevant stakeholders
  • Good oral and written skills in English

Desirable - 

  • Analytical skills and mindset
  • Good working knowledge of all Google Suite applications and MS Word
  • Diligent, reliable and proactive
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Good prioritisation and time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of data querying and scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python), and relevant software (e.g. R)
