Business Development Manager - Renewable Energy Solutions

Our Consultancy & Advisory Services team provides our clients with outstanding technical expertise that enables the successful implementation of complex sustainability projects. Our expertise spans across multiple topics including land and water management, climate strategies, renewable energies, environmental impact assessments, green products, climate policy, carbon pricing, climate finance, and sustainable finance, to name just a few. Job summary:

In this role you will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of clients. Leveraging your contacts and networking opportunities, you will build a new client base. You will proactively build a pipeline of new clients and manage the relationship with existing clients, understand their needs and develop tailor-made solutions.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Create new business opportunities to grow South Pole’s business in the RES practice 
  • Collaborate with the RES consultants to define the go-to-market strategy 
  • Understand client needs and identify business opportunities 
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to define customer segments, develop target lists and run campaigns 
  • Engage with the global key account management team to leverage existing pool of South Pole clients for RES leads 
  • Develop compelling offers and proposals together with our product experts and consultants 
  • Conclude commercial agreements with clients and business partners 
  • Ensure client satisfaction by assuring timely delivery of responses and maintaining high-quality of our services 
  • Represent South Pole in client meetings, at conferences and trade shows 
  • Identify market trends and provide inputs for product & service development 
  • Instil pride in the South Pole brand, inspire & motivate team members 


  • A university degree, ideally at Masters level 
  • At least 5 years of proven business development and sales experience 
  • Solid business development and sales experience with a track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets 
  • Work experience in the field of renewable energy, preferred in corporate renewable energy sourcing 
  • Understanding of the business drivers behind corporate climate actions and initiatives (e.g. SBT, RE100, carbon neutrality) and the ability to formulate a business case for sourcing renewable energy would come as an advantage 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative 
  • Strong drive for results, action-oriented, with self-direction and sense of urgency 
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and think out of the box 
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills within strong business and commercial acumen 
  • Ability to successfully navigate complexity and effectively deal with ambiguity 
  • Experienced working in small interdisciplinary teams, ideally within an international and multicultural context 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint Holder of a valid work permit is a must
