Job summary:

The Stakeholder Engagement Manager will support the formulation and development of diverse forestry and land-use projects. The position requires advanced qualifications for supporting the design and development of forestry and land-use projects in the context of the identification, coordination, monitoring and reporting of the social, cultural and governance aspects required by any standard used by the company for the certification of carbon projects. The stakeholder engagement manager will work closely with all the Project Managers and collaborators of the project team, ensuring that all the project’s collaborators receive ongoing training and that they get the necessary skills and tools to comply with community requirements. Experience working with local communities and private owners, MRV systems, and delivering high-quality products (Project documents, monitoring reports, and others), both in English and Spanish, assisting audit process for the validation and verifications of GHG reductions and participating in business rounds, technical sessions and different events as required by the ARR, REDD and/or ALM Senior Leads or by the Head of AFOLU.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Contribute with policy inputs and theory of change in REDD+ projects. 
  • Develop the analysis of the socioeconomic, cultural and political conditions of the territory based on primary and secondary information. 
  • Ensure an active channel of communication with all project stakeholders, especially with ethnic communities, to promote their participation and effective accomplishment of projects goals 
  • Schedule, prepare and execute training workshops to identify strengths, threats, weaknesses, and opportunities of the project activities. 
  • Support the Project Manager (PM) in the development of community and general sections of Project Design and Monitoring Reports under different carbon standards. 
  • Support the PM in proposal/deliverable preparation and completion to the quality required by South Pole and the client. The nature of the support may be either technical and administrative depending on the nature, topic, and complexity of the mandate. 
  • Identify and evaluate community impacts and their mitigation measures that may be incurred by the implementation of projects coordinated by South Pole in the territory of influence. 
  • Design and execution of meetings and workshops of socialisation with the stakeholders involved in the project, including local stakeholder consultations according to the standard and communities’ requirements. 
  • Draft local stakeholders consultation reports, complying with the quality required by South Pole and the client. 
  • Conduct site visits and travel to project locations whenever needed. 
  • Develop community monitoring plans and reports according to project goals and indicators, Standards requirements and specific conditions and capacities of stakeholders involved 
  • Participate in formal and informal networking opportunities as requested. 
  • Share relevant contacts and information on possible opportunities.


  • University Degree in anthropology, social sciences, forestry, natural resource management, sustainability or climate change and carbon mitigation related fields 
  • At least 5 years of work experience in community engagement of forestry, sustainability consulting, climate change mitigation/adaptation projects or associated fields. 
  • Ability to manage targets and priorities and develop own goals Ability to create high quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) 
  • Excellent communication skills Excellent oral and written command of English and Spanish
  • Specific experience in REDD+ projects 
  • French language skills are desirable
