Our Project Development team is at the forefront of developing and managing climate mitigation activities. By working closely with project owners and developers as well as their local communities, we manage the complete registration, verification and evaluation of carbon projects to enable the issuance of emission-reduction certificates, in line with official carbon standards. Job summary:

As part of the Project Development team, you will be responsible for screening, planning, developing and managing GHG emission reductions projects. You will also lead the development of new baseline and monitoring methodologies. You will have a strong background and focus on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) projects and methodologies. Further, you will also work on energy related topics, waste management and community-based projects.

You will be reporting directly to the Head of Renewables and Sustainable Technologies Americas and will closely collaborate with the global offices to ensure an efficient and effective delivery of GHG emission reductions, as well as other climate change advisories. In addition, you will also be responsible for sourcing, business development activities, effective communication with counterparties, and preparation of proposals for tenders.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Development of baseline and monitoring methodologies under different emission reductions standards and tailor-made accounting methodologies based on ISO14064-2 principles 
  • Implementation and management of climate change mitigation projects under the CDM, VCS, Gold Standard and other upcoming international and domestic climate schemes
  • Support different climate change advisory projects and preparation of high quality reports
  • Support business development, including screening, targeted business meetings, financial analysis, proposal preparation and liaising with clients
  • Proactive networking with relevant organisations including potential project owners, technology providers, industry associations, multilaterals, government agencies and others
  • Attending relevant gatherings and conferences and expanding the existing network 
  • Quality checks for deliverables and project related consultancy mandates
  • Support project teams in other offices with the project development cycle where required 
  • Support the KAMs and the P&M team with tenders and proposal preparation, the Marketing team in project information requests and the C&S team based on availability
  • Budget control and resource management: manage the budgets of all tasks and activities with optimum efficiency and effectiveness and ensure the assigned time budget per staff are respected and on track
  • Managing project budgets of at least 100k EUR in size


  • Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Energy Engineering, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Sciences, Physics, Sustainability, Climate Change or Carbon Mitigation related fields
  • At least 5+ years work experience in the field of climate change, preferably with experience in project management and development of CDM, VCS and Gold Standard projects and methodologies
  • Profound understanding of GHG emission reductions standards, GHG emission reductions projects and methodologies
  • Strong capacity for methodology development and previous experience in methodology approval processes
  • Experience in the implementation of GHG emission reductions projects, including industrial sectors, energy industries, waste management, transport, etc, with a very high level of independence
  • Knowledge of different types of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) technologies is considered an advantage
  • Track record of project development in the USA and LatAm countries preferred
  • Very strong project management skills
  • Ability to analyse and structure complex problems, and formulate solutions
  • Ability to create high quality written deliverables in English (Spanish is a plus)
  • Enthusiastic in approaching potential new clients, generating new business opportunities, closing deals and meeting customer needs
  • Strong analytical skills, good pitching skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and the ability to create high quality written deliverables in Spanish is desirable
