Senior Portfolio Manager, Voluntary Carbon

Our Portfolio Management team oversees and develops business for the sale and trading of carbon credits and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). By working collaboratively with both our internal Sales and Projects teams, we play a crucial role in balancing the demand and supply of certificates, in order to best match the needs of our clients with our sourcing capabilities. Job summary:

In this role you will be part of our Portfolio Management team, responsible for overseeing and developing business for the sales of carbon credits for the voluntary market. You will work in coordination with our Trading, Project Development, and Marketing teams and support Business Development and Key Account Managers in structuring proposals for large end clients. In addition, you will participate in different events and forums with the objective to create new business opportunities


Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Business Development and Key Account Management team to introduce our offering to potential clients 
  • Design and draft high quality written proposals for the voluntary carbon market 
  • Coordinate the offering process in terms of resources, content, and timelines
  • Establish and maintain track of resource utilization, select the best resources available to deliver proposals based on skills and availability, and re-assign resources when needed to meet the needs of the business 
  • Client acquisition, including attendance to exhibitions and other corporate events 
  • Analysis of client needs, as well as gathering market intelligence and identifying industry trends 
  • Provide supervision, guidance and technical leadership with regard to business development 
  • Lead and directly manage and develop small teams

 


Requirements:

  • A University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Environmental Management, Sustainability) or a broader field with evidence of a focus on environmental or sustainability issues (e.g. Engineering, Business/Management/Finance) is preferred 
  • At least 7 years experience in environmental markets, particularly in carbon markets 
  • A thorough understanding of carbon products and markets, preferably including project-based carbon standards, technologies and project development processes 
  • A good understanding of Energy Attribute Certificates (EAC) and international Renewable Energy markets 
  • Experience in working on tenders and creating complex commercial offers to clients 
  • Excellent analytical skills including high level of numeracy, competency with Excel and, as an advantage, financial literacy 
  • Experience working with information management systems (CRM, accounting, databases, etc.) 
  • Strong Analytical skills 
  • Leadership and strategic management experience 
  • Demonstrated belief in and commitment to climate change mitigation and broader sustainability objectives 
  • Excellent written and oral command of English 
  • To be the holder of a valid required work permit in host country
  • Experience working in international teams is desirable, as well as other language skills, especially German and French
