Job summary:
In this challenging position you will be responsible for the finance activities of South Pole - South Africa and be part of building a newly shared service department for the South Pole Group. You will also assist with tasks in the other South African entities, and potentially in other countries, as a member of the Global Accounting team. As the Head of Shared Services you will be responsible for coordinating with stakeholders across South Pole and also external stakeholders to ensure reporting is complete in a timely fashion.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of the new Shared Service Department to develop a culture of service excellence
- Ensure teams are appropriately resourced in order to meet SLA's and stakeholder expectations, flexing and adapting to meet scheduled and unexpected peaks of activity
- Collating, evaluating and processing data to identify patterns and trends to drive continuous improvement
- Manage the day to day performance of the respective Shared Service team to deliver a best in class service, meeting or exceeding all KPIs and within budget.
- Set the strategy for the development of the Shared Service department and it's employees
- Be accountable for associated policies and procedures of the group ensuring the control framework remains fit for purpose and effective
- Prepare and submit the monthly and yearly financial reporting pack and management accounts for the local entity
- Manage accounts receivable and credit control department, accounts Payable and inventory
- Manage Treasury and cash flow forecasts
- Coordinate with the Global Tax team the billing, review and reconciliation of intercompany recharges
- Review monthly payroll and employee tax calculations
- Ensure full local taxation compliance with the completion and submission of mandatory local direct and indirect tax returns
- Collaborate with Group Accounting Team on various global finance projects
- Document all accounting procedures and ensure they are in alignment with Group policies
- In coordination with the Global Tax team and the local consultants implement transfer pricing policy and procedures together with the review and submission
Requirements:
Essential -
- CA/CIMA or equivalent
- Relevant experience in international accounting and finance minimum 6 years
- High-energy, flexible and responsive work style; ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and fluent in English
- Excellent IT skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Able to work closely in a diverse team, but also independently, able to liaise effectively with stakeholders within the organization
- IFRS Experience
Desirable -
- Experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm is a plus
- Experience in Shared Service would be beneficial
