By acquiring new projects within our portfolio, we ensure that South Pole always has the right mix of carbon credits available to meet the demands of our clients. Job summary:
As the Senior Sourcing and NBS Portfolio Manager for LATAM, you will be leading the relationships between South Pole and the clients that want to create NBS project portfolios for their offsets. You will also work with clients to design and develop carbon portfolios composed of forestry and non-forestry projects that can be used to offset the companies' carbon footprint and retire them to use them in a compliance market in the region.
You will be the direct communications channel with portfolio clients, project owners, government entities and strategic allies, providing feedback and updates regarding the operation of the portfolio. Furthermore, you will help identify new potential opportunities that could be incorporated into the portfolios and lead negotiations with these stakeholders to produce amendments or new covenants that will strengthen our relationship with the clients and improve the processes to optimise the program's execution. In addition, you will also coordinate the strategy to identify potential projects, supporting clients in the organisation of events and spaces that will allow them to communicate the results of their Client's Portfolio.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Work with clients in order to design and develop carbon portfolios composed of forestry and non-forestry projects in the region
- Coordinate the communication channels between South Pole and the client’s Portfolio
- Arrange agendas for committee meetings between the client’s Portfolio stakeholders
- Provide feedback and inputs to the stakeholders regarding updates in the carbon portfolio management as well as the status of project implementation
- Support in the creation and organization of events with the client to communicate the results of the Portfolio, as well as call for potential projects to submit information to be considered for it
- Manage the client’s Communication, offset and other requests
- Proactively network with relevant organisations; including potential project owners, resource-based communities, concession holders, public-private entities, government agencies, NGOs/foundations, associations, banks etc.
- Attend relevant gatherings and conferences and expand the existing network of NBS stakeholders
- Map and plan resources efficiently and adequately to optimize sourcing activities
- Hire, manage and support a team to support Sourcing and Project Implementation in the region
Requirements:
Essential
- University degree in Economics, Environmental Sustainability, Business Development, Law and Environmental/Carbon Markets or similar
- Extensive professional work experience in the fields of carbon markets, environmental project assessment and/or, climate change mitigation actions
- Demonstrated people skills through experience in engaging with external stakeholders and networking activities
- Good understanding of commercial terms, contracts, sales and ideally experience with commercial negotiations
- Existing networks in NBS fields such as forestry, conservation, or biodiversity
- Professional proficiency in Spanish
- Comfortable working with an international and multicultural team
- Broad understanding of global sustainability issues
- Proficiency with Google Suite, MS office
- Adaptability and versatility
Desirable
- A Masters's degree is an advantage
- Knowledge of, and experience with, emission reduction project-based carbon standards, technologies and project development processes
- Knowledge and experience working with Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) projects
- Good working knowledge of ay relevant second language
