Project Coordinator - Sustainable Standards & Methodology

Our Project Development team is at the forefront of developing and managing climate mitigation activities. By working closely with project owners and developers as well as their local communities, we manage the complete registration, verification and evaluation of carbon projects to enable the issuance of emission-reduction certificates, in line with official carbon standards. Job summary:
The purpose of this role is to support South Pole’s communication and coordination with the global climate change and sustainability standards and platforms/schemes, along with supporting the development of new baseline and monitoring methodologies.
You will be responsible for internal knowledge management and communication over South Pole’s ongoing and relevant methodologies used to quantify and verify the impacts of existing and rule updates to the global and regional carbon standards and schemes.
You will also be responsible for developing new methodologies and revising existing ones in different carbon standards and schemes such as Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard, Global Carbon Council, American Carbon Registry.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Lead and support in existing and new standard and methodology development assignments while also mapping out opportunities for new areas where methodology development is feasible
- Represent South Pole towards the standard bodies on matters related to methodologies, project registration/validation, issuance/verification rules, guidelines, and tools
- Lead the communication to the secretariat and technical committees regarding the standards
- Coordinate with the project development team on technical/methodological and admin topics related to project registration/verification processes of carbon schemes and sustainable standards
- Proactively lead and support the carbon and other certification topics with the projects head and portfolio, including any initiative South Pole needs to handle to shape any new platform or standard product, e.g. Grow Europe tree plantation project, amongst others
- When needed, support the project heads and project managers (PMs) to perform technical checks on the projects in line with standard expectations and communicate any clarification required
- Contribute to knowledge management in regards to standard rules and updates
Requirements:
Essential
- Master/Bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Sciences, Physics, Sustainability, Climate change or any carbon mitigation related field
- Several years work experience in CDM, VERRA and Gold Standard or other similar standards and schemes either as a project developer, validator/verifier, methodology developer or working with a carbon standards organisation (the experience can be either non-AFOLU or AFOLU or both the sectors)
- Profound understanding of GHG emission reduction standards, GHG emission reduction projects and GHG emission reduction methodologies.
- Ability to analyze and structure complex problems and formulate solutions
- Ability to create high quality written deliverables in English
- Handholding of managing global client and their requirements
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultures
- Ability to communicate fluently in English

- Experience in development and/or assessment of baseline and monitoring methodologies
