Multiple technical accounting requirements need to be met, as well as complex consolidation, transfer pricing, foreign exchange and cash flow management considerations in the design of our systems, but we also need to service our business stakeholders with meaningful, insightful and timely information.

As the Finance Systems Manager, you will be responsible for managing the transformation of the Finance Systems at South Pole, working closely with the Deputy CFO and the Head of Digital Transformation, business analysts, and finance leaders to select and deploy a new cloud based ERP system, consolidation system and financial planning and analysis module. This role will also work to ensure that the systems are set up from day one to capture relevant data dimensions to also allow us to maximise the insight and analysis we are able to provide as a finance team through Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, so the successful candidate will need to work with all parts of the finance team to think ahead to specify and balance the requirements of the system.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Review of existing systems and controls in partnership with the Digital Transformation team and the Finance team
  • Review of consolidation tools, recommendation and implementation of preferred short term tool for December 2021 year end
  • Selection and implementation of the new ERP. This is the largest task and involves identifying system requirements in consultation with key stakeholders, key finance risks and conducting an in depth review of cloud based candidates for implementation in time for December 2022 year end
  • Understand and improve existing Finance processes and controls, both in migrating them to the new ERP system, and beforehand
  • Implement further improvements once the foundation of a new ERP system is in place, through implementing a permanent consolidation solution, as well as FP&A modules, real time reporting through business intelligence solutions such as Tableau and other insight driven tools
  • Coordinate and manage stakeholders throughout the process to ensure successful implementation and engagement

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with systems and process mindset
  • Very comfortable working closely with IT
  • Previous experience rolling out a cloud based ERP system able to support scale(e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, SAPOne, Workday FM)
  • Experience in managing relationships with a third party provider would be desirable, as well as ability to manage internal stakeholders
  • Proactive mindset: keen to identify process improvements and help colleagues to action them to ensure successful implementation
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both in listening to colleagues to identify key risks, requirements and bottlenecks, and in communicating with internal stakeholders to ensure a successful roll out
