Job summary:

To grow our global team, we are looking for you, an enthusiastic Contracts Manager, and team leader to ensure consistent management of our contracts, develop account specific standards and documentation as well as judgements on specific contract terms. In this broad and challenging role you are working as part of the wider Global Contracts Management team and you will be instrumental in supporting the day to day review and negotiation of agreements with South Pole’s clients and supplies as well as supporting the further development of our standards and procedures.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Review a variety of contacts (including NDAs, Service Agreements, Subcontracting Agreements, Sale and Purchase Agreements) based on our defined standards.
  • Act as a lead in negotiation of such contracts with relevant counter parties, both clients and suppliers, with support from key business stakeholders where required. 
  • Perform risk assessments of proposed contractual terms and conditions, and develop recommendations to minimise their potential risk to the business. 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business on all contractual and legal matters, providing sound legal advice and supporting 
  • Notify company management of relevant contractual non-compliance issues
  • Refine and further develop contractual positions for your area of responsibility
  • Train and provide guidance to business personnel on contracting policies and procedures
  • Lead and develop a small team of contract specialists
  • Potential other related tasks to meet business needs



  • A Bachelor's degree in Law
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience as a legal counsel, contract manager or related positions
  • Experience of and familiarity with Australian Financial Services Licences
  • Experience with commodity trading, specifically ISDAs based on market defined standards
  • Experience of leading and developing a small team
  • Excellent written and oral command in English
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Good judgement in balancing business and commercial needs and potential risks/exposures with counter party requirements
  • Accurate and precise attention to details


  • Additional language skills is of advantage
  • Experience working with the ERF or with project owners would be highly beneficial 
  • Additional relevant industry or product specific experience is of advantage
