Job summary:
As part of the Renewable Energy Solutions team within the Consultancy & Services Unit, you will lead the development and upgrade of our global power & renewables quantitative PPA model. The Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst will work alongside a broad range of energy industry experts analysing the evolving PPA policy, technology and competitive landscape, through rigorous research and data analysis, and perform quantitative PPA analysis and value-at-risk modelling. The position provides an opportunity for a successful candidate to apply their knowledge of quantitative PPA modelling, and European power markets to provide our clients with outstanding technical expertise that enables the successful implementation of complex sustainability projects. Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst functions as a core member of the Renewable Energy Solutions team, contributing to written reports, assisting with consulting projects, appraising multi technology and multi geographic PPAs, and undertaking as well as improving our value-at-risk model. An ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and 3 to 6 years of energy industry experience. This is a fast growing and dynamic business area with global market potential.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Collect and ensure data integrity, maintain and enhance the models capabilities
- Responsibility for performing analyses related to European power and renewable wholesale power markets including assessing the performance of various PPA projects
- Tracking PPA market evolution and a strong understanding of current and expected supply and demand fundamentals
- With the help of in-house analysts, tracking of Environmental Attribute and carbon markets, ensuring the model is capable of providing reports beyond the financial analysis
- Lead or contribute to regular reports including PPA risk appraisals, value-at-risk modelling, power and renewable forecasts, market updates, and policy developments, trends and competitor analysis.
- Carry out topical research to help clients understand PPA drivers, trends, competitive
- landscape, and opportunities
- Deliver insights through written reports, presentations, and client interactions
- Participate in consulting project development and delivery
Requirements:
- A university degree in topics such as energy markets, economics, statistics or
- industry-related fields required. Graduate degree with quantitative experience preferred.
- Relevant work experience (the expectation is between 3 and 6 years) in power markets, renewable energy or working in the industry (e.g. utility, corporate, project developer), government, research or consulting.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated experience in energy risk modelling, preferably with experience in PPA/power market risk appraisal.
- Sound understanding of European power markets.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by multinational companies undertaking the transition to Renewable Energy
- Sound understanding an knowledge of Structured Query Language - SQL
- Strong commercial skills and good business sense, the ability to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Python, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written skills in English (mother tongue or equivalent), other
- languages (German, French, Spanish) an advantage
