The Fund Management team is responsible for developing and managing sustainable impact funds, as well as other facilities, vehicles and platforms for investments in climate action. Job summary:
Together with a broad range of partners, South Pole is pioneering a new market instrument for the certification of distributed renewable energy (D-REC) with the aim to foster energy access and sustainable development in developing countries. This is achieved through the D-REC Initiative, an international multi-stakeholder platform including public and private actors. (For more information see www.d-recs.energy) Specific to the operation of this D-REC platform, you will lead the operational management and coordination of the platform including technical, administrative and financial aspects. You will also lead the stakeholder engagement through communication as well as organising events/meetings (physical or on-line), contribute to pilot projects implementation and support the reporting towards funders
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Actively manage the operations of the D-REC platform with regards to budget, work progress, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Plan and implement tasks to ensure the most efficient and highest-quality implementation.
- Coordinate with South Pole’s implementation team and the external implementation partners to ensure the timely delivery of the planned goals.
- Design and maintain platform-wide cooperation management by identifying and adapting suitable tools and frameworks for project management, reporting and communications.
- Contribute materially to the development of standardised monitoring of D-REC projects.
- Develop and improve specialised skills and knowledge linked to the topics and services offered by South Pole. Topics of engagement include: energy access, sustainable development, distributed and off-grid renewable energy, Energy Attribute Certification (EAC) and carbon credits, digital technologies (such as Internet of Things and Distributed Ledger Technology) and automated Monitoring Reporting and Verification (MRV), results based finance (RBF), Impact investment and structured financial instruments.
Requirements:
Essential:
- University degree in a sustainability-related field.
- Relevant work experience (the expectation is a minimum of 3 years) in project management, sustainability consulting, knowledge management, stakeholder engagement or other related fields; Work experience linked to energy and sustainable development.
- Good project management skills, from both a technical and administrative standpoint, and ability to coordinate ps context.
- Excellent writing skills, with proven expertise in creating high-quality written documents (proposals and deliverables).
- Affinity to renewable energy, environmental markets and standards, energy access and new technologies.
- Good stakeholder and client management skills.
- Autonomous yet collaborative approach to work.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English.
Desirable:
- A Master’s degree would be an advantage.
- Working experience in the distributed renewable energy sector.
- Proven track record/expertise in the above mentioned topics of engagement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent working knowledge of all Google Suite applications and MS Word.
- Diligent, reliable, proactive and self-sufficient but collaborative approach to work.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment. Good prioritisation and time management skills.
