Our Project Development team is at the forefront of developing and managing climate mitigation activities. By working closely with project owners and developers as well as their local communities, we manage the complete registration, verification and evaluation of carbon projects to enable the issuance of emission-reduction certificates, in line with official carbon standards. Job summary:

As a part of the Projects team, you will be accountable for the delivery of specific milestones proposed for projects under various carbon standards and collaborate with other members of the Projects and Development team. You will assist the design and development of carbon projects, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of carbon emission reductions and renewable energy certificates. In addition, you will be responsible for providing operational support for carbon estimations and the delivery of high quality products for specific milestones (project documents, monitoring reports and others) and will support the audit process for the validation and verification of GHG reductions. You will also participate in business rounds, technical sessions, site visits, and other relevant events.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Coordinators in proposal/deliverable preparation and completion of the project development cycle tasks to the best quality required by South Pole and the client. The nature of the support may be either technical or administrative depending on the nature, topic, and complexity of the mandate
  • Provide support at different stages for project development including assisting in conducting project feasibility studies, emission reduction estimations and developing tools and templates to facilitate project development
  • Ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and within the personal time budget
  • Operational support in the development and coordination of site visit plans
  • Gather, prepare and present information to represent South Pole at meetings, as requested
  • Support in engaging potential project owners and project partners, as well as other administrative tasks concerning internal and external project stakeholders
  • Undertake research into possible partners and collaborators for upcoming opportunities
  • Participate in formal and informal networking opportunities as requested
  • Share relevant contacts and information on possible opportunities


Essential -

  • University Degree in environmental sciences, forestry or climate change and carbon mitigation related fields, a Master’s degree is a plus 
  • Minimum 1-2 years of work experience in in the field of climate change, preferably with experience in project management and development of CDM, VCS and Gold Standard projects
  • Familiarity with carbon standards like T-VER, CDM, VERRA, GS4GG, etc.
  • Ability to work on assignments that are diverse in nature, applying company policies, processes and procedures to resolve a variety of issues/problems.
  • The capacity to solve relatively complex project-related problems with limited guidance
  • Have excellent communication skills, especially verbal and written skills in English and Mandarin Chinese
  • Ability to create high quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) in English and Mandarin Chinese  
  • Ability to manage targets and priorities and develop own goals
  • National, or holder of a valid work visa on mainland China

Desirable -

  • Bachelor degree from good public universities in China
  • Native speaker of Mandarin Chinese 
  • Open minded, efficient and flexible
